I think at some point in our lives we've all felt like this. . .haven't we?!
In this journey that I'm embarking on, I'm trying my hand at some things that I've always wanted to do. . .and one of those things is pen & ink. . .kinda vintage style, if you get my meaning. I think the whole idea of this illustration started with that morning's cup of coffee. For whatever reason, my Grandma Grant came to mind as I was sipping. The coffee that morning just smelled & tasted like hers. So what did I do? I pulled out my ipad & started sketching out some cups.
Grandma Grant always made her coffee in a percolator & although we were just kids, she always made sure my sister & I got a cup as well. Mind you. . .it was more cream than coffee, but it was the best cup of coffee ever! I know this part of the story has nothing to do with the illustration, but just hang in there with me for just another moment. The first part of the year has been kinda rough & although I know that my cup is surely running over (in a blessed way), on this particular day, the stress of life was kind of getting to me & I'm not going to lie. . . that evening, I was totally thinking about a glass of wine with my friend. . .and not coffee. She always has some on hand. . .but wouldn't you know it . . .she was out of town. Oh well, I guess I just wasn't meant to have a glass that day, so instead. . .I kept my chin up & did more work on the illustration instead (with a cup of decaf) . .and although, I'm still working on learning pen & ink techniques, I think it turned out kinda cool. . .and also kinda vintage like.
So. . .that's the story behind this particular illustration. Do you have a similar one? Or one completely different? I'd love to hear.
Until It's Time for Wine, is now available in the shop. I sure hope that you'll find it enjoyable to create with.

Thanks for sharing this with us, Cheryl. I have certainly missed hearing from you on a more regular basis, but understand we all have different journeys we are on and sometimes life gets in the way of what others want from us. Just letting you know you are loved and have been missed. My life has also undergone some changes, but hope to get back to coloring again soon. In the meantime, dear friend, take care of yourself and know you are in my thoughts and prayers. {{{HUGS}}} and love.

Isn’t it wonderful how our memories can reach out and give us a hug just when we need it most?
